How long is Okko The Exiled?
About 10 hours for the story on a first playthrough and 12 to 15 with the optional content, the developer said on the launch-eve stream (elsewhere he put a first run at up to 12 hours). There are six zones with 12 core levels of 20 to 60 minutes each, plus 20 short Underground challenge levels. A no-commentary full run on YouTube reaches the credits in about 4 hours.
Do you lose money when you die in Okko The Exiled?
Yes, a small percentage of the gems you carry, not all of them, and you cannot go back to pick them up. The developer lowered the penalty for the full release, some Pacts reduce it further, and you can replay levels to earn gems back.
Is Okko The Exiled free?
No. It costs $14.99 (€14.99) on Steam and GOG. There was a free demo in 2025, but it is no longer listed on Steam.
How do you equip Pacts?
Open the Inventory menu and equip them there. You have 2 Pact slots; a Pact marked | takes one slot and one marked || takes both. Buying a Pact from Mongravis does not equip it.
Why is my controller double-inputting or not moving Okko?
Steam Input is fighting the game's own controller support. In your Steam Library, right-click Okko The Exiled, open Properties, then Controller, and set it to Disable Steam Input. A separate control-stick fix was announced for October 1.
Is Okko The Exiled on Switch, PS5 or Xbox?
Not yet. The publisher lists PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S for early 2027. At launch it is PC and Mac only, on Steam and GOG.
Is Okko The Exiled a metroidvania?
Not really. It is a level-based side-scroller with a hub (The Old Throne) and light ability gating, not an interconnected map. Steam reviewers say as much, and one sums it up as "Shovel Oni", comparing the feel to Shovel Knight.
When do you get the dash?
One player reports it unlocks after the third boss. We have not found a second source yet.
Does Okko The Exiled support Russian?
No. It has English, French, German, Spanish, Japanese, Brazilian Portuguese and both Simplified and Traditional Chinese. The developer said it will watch demand for more languages.
Is there a subreddit or Discord?
We have not found an official subreddit or Discord server. The developer answers questions on the game's Steam Community forum and posts news on X and Bluesky.
Does Okko The Exiled autosave?
Yes. It saves whenever you enter a stage and when you quit from the menu. Checkpoints inside a stage only respawn you: exit to the world map mid-stage and you start that stage over.
Who is Yalda in Okko The Exiled?
Demon Lord Yalda, also called Yaldabaoth, is the king and creator of Kutala and the final boss, fought in two forms. The name comes from Yaldabaoth, the flawed creator god of Gnostic myth. More in the story and lore guide.
