What is in the game

The developer broke it down on the forum:

  • 12 core levels, each taking 20 to 60 minutes depending on skill.
  • 20 additional small challenge levels (the Underground), each a short platforming challenge followed by a combat challenge.
  • Other secret content they did not want to spoil.
  • 3 save files.

On the launch-eve stream the developer explained the estimate: the main game is six zones, and the streamer took about two hours (while chatting) for the first one. Six zones at two hours, plus the extra content, is where 12 to 15 hours comes from. How long it takes depends on whether you do the extra content. One Spanish-speaking player was about 30% through after 5 hours, which lines up with the 12-hour estimate.

How long for 100%?

The developer’s words: getting all the achievements takes some time and effort. The slow parts:

  • Spelunker and Untouchable: every Underground level, then every Underground level without taking damage. Only 0.6% of players had Untouchable in launch week.
  • Excavator, Scholarly, Well Equipped: every Deevol, Scroll and Pact.
  • Focused and Omnismash: maxing both meters, which takes currency. You can replay levels to farm gems.

Plan the run with the achievement checklist.

Is it too short for the price?

At $14.99 English-language reviewers mostly think the length is fair; one sums it up as short but filling every moment. A couple of Chinese-language reviewers suggest waiting for a discount. More on the worth it page.

Replay value

Once you have beaten the game and done the optional content, the developer says that is the end of it: replay comes down to wanting to play again, and no New Game Plus has been announced. Levels can be replayed to farm gems and collect what you missed.
