Okko The Exiled Old Throne Hub: Shops, Meals & NPCs
The Old Throne is where Okko rests between stages. The store page describes a colourful cast of allies there who sell you items, fill your belly and pass on useful information, in a place “with its own buried secrets to uncover”. Reaching it for the first time unlocks the Boaster achievement, which almost every player has.
What to do on every visit
- Spend your gems. Dying in a stage costs a slice of what you carry (death penalty), so upgrade first.
- Upgrade. Okko’s stats and abilities improve here. The Mercenary Shop levels up Dragon Break, the developer confirms.
- Check Mongravis for Pacts, then equip them in the Inventory (Pacts).
- Cook. Bring ingredients to Pan Pan. Each meal upgrade takes three food ingredients.
- Hand in Deevols to the demon in the basement to open more of the Underground (Deevols).
- Talk to everyone. Side stories, including Leena’s, advance between stages.
Who lives at The Old Throne
Most of this comes from a developer-hosted stream on the publisher’s channel (eastasiasoft, launch eve), where the opening hours were played with the game’s programmer answering questions.
| Who | What they do | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Pan Pan | Runs the hub’s shop and kitchen. Sells adventurer supplies, gives you the map of Kutala (it unlocks the world map), and cooks anything on the menu if you bring ingredients: vegetables, demon meat, even “nasty” ones | Developer stream |
| Mongravis | A wizard who was once the right hand of Sabaoth, the exiled Archon. Sells Pacts from a room below the hub | Developer stream + tips post |
| The demon in the basement | Sent his minions, the Deevols, to find missing parts. Bring them back and his elevator takes you down into the Underground prison | Developer stream |
| Leena | Floats on a levitating stone and comes from Heaven Towers. Has her own storyline; finishing it earns Golden | Developer stream + Steam achievement |
| Mercenary Shop | Dragon Break upgrades | Developer tips post |
Two characters you meet before the hub matter too: Toro, the old guardian who raised Okko and finally lets him leave, and Gotto, Okko’s companion (a sibling, though not by blood). Gotto’s tutorial chats were made optional after demo feedback, so you can skip them.
Meals
Every stage hides one food ingredient. On the world map, the turkey-leg icon next to a stage shows whether you have found it (0/1 or 1/1). Pan Pan needs three ingredients per meal upgrade. Cooking one meal unlocks Spicy, cooking all of them unlocks Pan Pan Super Fan (3.3% of players in launch week). Only 13.6% had cooked even one, so plenty of players are walking past the kitchen. We will add the full menu once it is documented.
The basement and the Underground
Below the hub lies an old abandoned temple. That is where you find Mongravis and the demon with the broken elevator. The elevator’s tab shows how many Deevols each depth needs: on stream, 2 Deevols opened depth one and five were enough for depth two. See Deevols and the Underground.
