Okko The Exiled Pacts: How to Equip Them and How Slots Work
Pacts are Okko’s passive equipment. They are easy to miss for a simple reason: buying one does nothing until you equip it. One of the first questions on the Steam forum after launch was a player who had bought two and could not work out how to slot them.
Where Pacts come from
- Mongravis sells them at The Old Throne.
- Some are found while adventuring in the stages.
Collecting every Pact unlocks the Well Equipped achievement, held by 1.5% of players in launch week.
How to equip a Pact
- Open the Inventory menu.
- Go to the Pacts section. The Inventory also shows item descriptions, lore Scrolls, Okko’s upgrades and abilities, and your Deevol count.
- Select a Pact and put it in a slot.
If nothing happens on keyboard, check the on-screen prompts in the Inventory rather than guessing keys. A Chinese-language reviewer who finished the game at 100% admitted they never worked out the keyboard binding for equipping Pacts, so this is a known rough edge. A controller makes the Inventory easier to navigate (with Steam Input off, see the controller fix).
Slots
- You have 2 Pact slots.
- Under each Pact are small bars:
|means it uses one slot,||means it uses two. - Most Pacts use one slot, so you will usually run two at once.
- You can equip and unequip freely, so swap before a boss or an Underground level.
Known Pacts
These five were on sale in Mongravis’s shop the first time it was opened on the developer-hosted launch stream. More turn up later and in stages.
| Pact | Effect |
|---|---|
| Gem Pact | Increases the value of gems you loot |
| Death Pact | Okko loses fewer gems when he dies |
| Health Pact | 18% chance that a health pickup gives double health |
| Projectile Pact | Carry up to 4 Ruby Skull projectiles instead of 3 |
| Dash Pact | Dash-related; the full text was not shown on stream |
Two more from players:
- The developer says they added Pacts tied to currency and dying specifically for players who struggle early with the death penalty. The Death Pact above is the one to buy first if you die a lot.
- A Chinese-language reviewer describes a berserker-style charm that only works at very low health, and found it of little use.
Collecting every Pact earns Well Equipped; we will complete this table as more are documented.
Tips
- Run the Death Pact while learning a new boss, then swap to the Gem Pact once you are confident, to bank more per run.
- The Projectile Pact pairs well with bosses that are hard to reach in melee.
- Recheck your Pacts after buying new ones: nothing changes until you slot them.
Thanks. Noted on the Old Throne board.
